The
trigeminal (fifth cranial) nerve consists of large sensory branches and a small
motor branch. There are three sensory branches: the ophthalmic to the orbit and
forehead, the mandibular to teeth of the lower jaw and tongue, and the
maxillary to the maxillary sinus and teeth of the upper jaw.
